Student Success Advisory Board

CS INCLUDES is built upon a strong foundation of OU faculty and staff members who wish to contribute to Tribal National building.

Courtney Henderson is the Director of the Student Financial Center which brings together the services of bursar billing and payments, financial aid, scholarships, and financial planning/education. It is her goal to ease confusion and concerns for students and families as they attempt to navigate the financial processes of attending OU.

Courtney is a member of the Seneca-Cayuga Nation and also of Eastern Shawnee descent. Having lived in Norman the majority of her life, she still considers Pawhuska, Oklahoma her hometown. She has worked in student services for fourteen years between OU and the Norman Public Schools Indian Education Program.  She previously served as Financial Manager for the Indian Country Child Trauma Center and the OJJDP Tribal Youth Training and Technical Assistance Center.

Jeremy Peña previously worked for Texas State University where he served for seven years as Coordinator of Academic Programs for the Center for International Studies. Concurrently, he taught seminars on a variety of student needs such as career exploration, effective learning skills, life-long learning, academic success strategies and utilization of campus and community resources.

Dr. Peña holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration. His dissertation titled, “Perceptions of a Comprehensive Student Support System for First-Year, First-Generation Students,” and his recent publication, “Undocumented Students: History and Implications for Higher Education Administrators,” Journal of Hispanic Higher Education serve to highlight the expertise he brings to the position and how his knowledge supports the College’s mission to grow in cultural competence and to facilitate and expand access to engineering education.

Dr. Peña is committed to enhanced student services and support networks that encourage students to achieve their full potential academically, professionally and personally.
